French Bulldog and Pug Appear in "The Shaggy Dog"

DO NOT experience this post as a recommendation that you pay money to see The Shaggy Dog. All I am saying is that rumor has it that there is a french bulldog and a pug (head on a frog body, but a pug head nontheless) in the movie. Rumor also has it that it is a suck movie; so, this is just in case you ever happen to be somewhere where you can quickly zoom through everything else to freeze frame on the adorable french bulldog and (frog) pug.

Bulldog Eats Oysters

Apparently, there are a lot of oysters on the beaches of Washington state. Enough that an oyster hunter can feed one to her bulldog, Buster. I don not know what Buster finds appealing about the slimy little buggers, but he sure is cute.

Chug Dog (A Chihuahua-Pug Mix) Enters Contest

Check out the adorable Cootie Bug. The chug dog (chihuahua-pug mix) entered an ugly dog contest and lost. (OF COURSE!) Even the devil horns Cootie Bug was sporting couldn't detract from the adorableness that occurs when a pug is involved in anything.

Tori Spelling's Pug Co-Stars in "so noTORIious"

Cue the tubas. Tori Spelling will be demonstrating her comedic stylings in the new VH1 series "so noTORIous" based on a fictionalized version of (surprise) herself. The most exciting part? She will be joined on the show by her real life pug Mimi La Rue. Set your tivos for April 2nd at 10:00 so you can skip all the Tori-comedy and watch the parts with the pug (who, incidentally, is looking a little rough in the picture).

Pug's Luxury Hotel Accomodations

Max the pug is the first to welcome visitors to Max and Elsie's Pet Resort Spa, named after, who else, but the cuddly little pug. Guests of the spa are served gourmet doggie treats and rest on faux mink stoles. The spa joins a growing trend: luxury pet accomodations. Take, for example, the Hotel Pennsylvania, which hosted numerous dogs and their owners during the recent Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show. The owner of one lucky pug requested a red carpet for the dog's arrival and ordered seven McDonald's cheeseburgers (Super Size Me anyone?). The Hotel Pennsylvania isn't the only pet-friendly place to stay. Wherever your travels take you, remember to call ahead to verify the pet policy at your chosen destination.

Jackson, the english bulldog, recently checked in to the luxury accomodations avaialable at PetSmart's newest addition: a hotel. PetsHotel features filtered drinking water, and hypoallergenic blankets and joins a growing trend: luxury pet accomodations. Looking to take your beautiful bully with you. Look for pet-friendly accomodations. There are plenty of places that let you bring your beloved with you. Just make sure to confirm the establishment allows your particular breed (some places that have welcomed our pug have banned or bulldog), and, if there are any special rules or fees.

A Bulldog in a Red Wagon

Sadly, Little Mo, mascot for Big Spring High School, died from cancer recently. Happily, there is a picture of her in the wagon she used to sit in at football games. Little Mo proudly rode the sidelines during the ballgame in her wagon, at least during the first part of the game. According to her owners, Little Mo fell asleep during the first quarter and stayed snoozing until they loaded her into the car to return home. Who knew little red wagons were so comfortable.

Denise Richards' Pug vs The Dog Whisperer

Denise Richards has great taste - in dogs. The actress owns a french bulldog named Hank, a pug named Betty (and a Boston Terrier - whatever). Recently, Cesar Milan, dog psychologist, and dog whisperer paid Richards and her crew a visit. Apparently, Milan believes Richards recent separation from husband Charlie Sheen may have traumatized the dogs. (I'm thinking it was the whole living with Charlie Sheen thing that caused the trauma.)

Pug Mix Stars in Cameron Diaz Movie

Hamlet, the pug mix who appears in the Cameron Diaz feature "In Her Shoes" stars in its own featurette on the DVD. The extra, called "From Death Row to the Red Carpet: The Casting of Honeybun" tells the story of the rescued pug's acension to stardom. The rescued dogs story serves as one more reason to visit your local shelter when searching for that perfect pug to star in the "movie" of your life.

A Little Black Pug Named Big

If you ask me, all pugs deserve to be written about; but usually, there is something other than their mere existence that inspires a publisher to put forth an article and picture. Not so in the case of Big, the little black pug. As far as I can tell, the only thing Big did was replace the family's previous pug after it was killed by a car. Lady and the Tramp and a Bulldog

The 50th anniversary edition of Lady and the Tramp will be released February 28, 2006 on DVD; and, while there are no bulldogs featured in the main event, the extras allow for some bulldog love. The DVD-ROM allows viewers to select a virtual english bulldog (among other breeds). Once the smooshed beauty is selected, you can take it out in the yard, pet it, feed it and train it. You can even print out an adoption certificate and training certification (good nowhere). Have fun.

Bulldog's Good Looks Win Award

He's no Loretta (bulldog star of this site), but 9-month-old Reggie the bulldog won the award for best looking dog in all of Britain. Reggie beat over 11,500 other contestants for the top prize (a year's supply of dog food). According to contest judges, they also took into account Reggie's winning personality when awarding him the distinguished honor. We'd suggest they hold the contest in the U.S., but I think we all know who'd win it here. (Loretta. Loretta would win it here. Geez.)
