A Running List of Pug Names

Ever notice that pugs seem to always get the most creative names? Seriously, how often have you encountered a pug with a boring moniker? No "Spots," no "Socks," nothing generic at all.

Herein you'll find our running list of pug names. Some come from real pugs while others seem oddly appropriate for pugs. If you'd like to submit a name you can post your submissions in the Comments area below or, if you're the shy type, you can drop us a line through email.

Trying to come up with a name for a FEMALE pug, fawn color, that we'll be picking up in a few weeks. We want it to be "puggish" -- reflecting its face, square frame and independent yet playful nature. If the dog were male then names like Winston, Patton, Duke, Mug, Tip (O'Neil), Nixon, Monty, would be the type. But the female is tougher. So far: Maggie (for velvet fisted Margaret Thatcher), Gerta (just 'cuz), Cass (for Mama Cass Elliot of the Momas and the Papas) ... but NONE are quite right yet. Any ideas? Thanks! :-)
