Pug, Pediatric Neurosurgeon Save Patient

Tucket the pug needed help. No, it wasn't a prosthetic paw the little guy needed, it was spine surgery. When Tucket, then 8-years-old, (a perfect pug age) began having problems walking, his owners took him to the vet. The vet sent the x-rays to renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, Fred Epstein. The good doctor diagnosed the problem, an abnormality on poor Tucket's spine, and proposed an interesting solution: he would operate on Tucket IF the dog's owners would pay for the surgery of a child in need. Done. Now, 5 years later, Tucket is still going strong. And thanks to his owners and Dr. Epstein, so is Jerry Martin, the now-thirteen-year-old boy who was the beneficiary of the good doctor's brilliant proposal.
